Yesterday, I took the train to Örebro University in order to give a short speech at their master’s degree graduation ceremony for international students. I was there a year ago for the same event, so this time I knew what to expect. A potpourri of speeches, Swedish folk music, hor d’oeuvres and proud students and professors. Like the last time, I was invited as a representative of the Swedish Institute to say some encouraging words about keeping in contact with Sweden in the future.
And like the last time, it was great to meet with the graduating students and to congratulate them on their accomplishments. I hope that all Swedish universities will provide some kind of diploma ceremony for their graduating students as it is well deserved that the students’ (and the university’s) efforts are acknowledged at an event like this.
Congratulations to all of you that are graduating in the spring of 2012!
