Cykelturen Skarume

And now, some catching up. The following post was planned for publication a month ago but mitigating factors (primarily the rush to complete my final presentation for the end of term) forced its postponement. So, without further ado, here’s my May in Umeå (with a little bit of June thrown in for good measure).

Unfortunately timed in the final throes of consistently unpleasant ‘spring’ weather, Cykelturen Skarume was an event planned and executed by members of UMA’s LIAI with the support of Umeå2014 (their grants for local initiatives are well worth investigating for anyone planning a contribution to the cultural capital). Bringing together topics from local food production and distribution to an interest in Sweden’s boating, it celebrated the cycling culture alongside the Scandinavians’ antisocial disposition.

In practical terms, it was a great success.

My Video Blogs

In addition to being so lucky to write for,I have also been writing for my university, Karolinska Institutet. It is through this that as of last week I have also been creating video blogs for the Karolinska and have been uploaded videos all about my experiences everyday from random happenings to some of my friends, international or otherwise answering some frequently asked questions, or some questions regarding courses and life here in Sweden. I think it may good for anyone interested in Sweden and studying here also.

So I have included 3 video blog links below which I think may be of interest. The first is my introduction to my beginning this new video blog adventure, the second one is a Vlog of myself and a swedish friend of mine answering questions, particular to a non native english speaker and also detailing some experiences from a swedish perspective. The third video link I have added is from today when I had a barbecue with some friends and I asked a general questions ‘Are you happy with your first year (now it has ended) and has your course met your expectations’. You can check out the remainder of the blogs on the youtube channel where I have, and will be uploaded many more every day. Hope this is helpful and interesting to you!

Welcome to Sweden

A nice view from Gamlastan

The summer which turns our passions on and brings us bright days truly starts with the entering of June. The sunset is at 21:48 today and the sunrise is at 3:40. Rushing through this half a year, I can hardly believe that I’m sitting by my desk and writing my last blog now.

It is also reaching the end of my Master’s program. We international students were warmly invited by KTH for a farewell Ceremony on May 21. It was really exciting that every student can shake our KTH Present’s hand. We are welcomed to join the KTH Alumni Network, which has over 20 000 alumni around the world now. Read more » >>
