While Expat blogger Kate was in town, we got to dig into some herring (sill), shrimp sandwiches (räksmörgåsar), and yummy fikabröd on lush island Djurgården. During Midsummer weekend, most restaurants are closed; many until August so picnicking is quite popular and a fantastic way of enjoying the mild summer sun with friends.

Last weekend, I met up with a few friends for a picnic along the waterfront of Hammarby Sjöstad – an eco-friendly “relatively” new section of town with tons of walkways and waterfront public spaces. The district can also be accessed by a ferry shuttle service from Södermalm.
