Invited by my friend Gunhild, I headed over to the Lidingö Museum where Martin Ciszuk, a Scandinavian textile historian and lecturer from the University of Borås was presenting a vibrant new collaborative book, Scandinavian Folklore (photographed by Laila Durán) to a local group of textile enthusiasts called Lidingö Trådgille. Everyone was invited to wear their folkdräkt, or just dräkt (traditional attire from a certain place) to the meetup.
From left to right: Kerstin is wearing dräkt from Rättvik, , Ulla #1 is wearing dräkt from Bohuslän, Martin is wearing sample dräkt from Närke, Elisabeth is wearing dräkt from Vingåker, Ulla #2 is wearing dräkt from Lidingö, and my friend Gunhild who is originally from Estonia is wearing dräkt from “Södra Estland” – Southern Estonia.
