Visby’s iconic Almedalen Park also happens to be the annual location where Sweden’s top politicians who flock to Gotland over the summer to give speeches and hold debates.

You really can’t turn a corner without running into 10th-13th century ruins in Visby.

The entire town of Visby itself is a UNESCO World Heritage site chock full of Medieval ruins and old churches (more soon) and I stopped by a small cafe – Bakfickan – located right next to St. Karin’s ruins in Stora Torget for a bowl of hearty fish stew (fisksoppa).
