Thought this was a pretty cool alternative to otherwise ordinary park benches. You can read more on Sweden’s sustainability efforts here on Sara’s blog.

Residents take their recycling duties seriously here in Stockholm. Even on a dreary wet day like today, we still saw a steady stream of cars queuing up and dropping off carefully sorted trash at the Stockby recycling center (Återvinningscentralen Stockby).

Last weekend, I met up with a few friends for a picnic along the waterfront of Hammarby Sjöstad – an eco-friendly “relatively” new section of town with tons of walkways and waterfront public spaces. The district can also be accessed by a ferry shuttle service from Södermalm.

I was recently at Rosendals Trädgård, Kafé & Bageri – a greenhouse/cafe/bakery/garden/orchard – to try out some of their biodynamic organic dishes for lunch. Their breads are baked with biodynamic flour from the Saltå Kvarn mill in nearby Järna, and their dishes are cooked using seasonal ingredients and organic produce from KRAV-certified farms and growers.
