I’ve photographed big sprawling Valborg celebrations and they don’t get bigger than Skansen. But this time around, I found myself in the tiny village of Klöverträsk (population roughly 250) where Valborg was being celebrated in a low-key, non-alcohol fueled fashion.

Winning their first gold medal since 1981 (in 31 years!), needless to say, Sweden’s national junior hockey team was treated to a hero’s welcome at Kungsträdgården in Stockholm. The World Junior Championship tournament was played in Canada last week in which Sweden clinched the title in a nail-biting game against Russia.

The seniors have won many titles, and it is now a tradition to celebrate with cheering crowds in Kungsträdgården. Last time Sweden celebrated like this was in 2006 when the seniors won both World Championship gold and Olympic gold.
