Monica gives me a warm smile before handing me a box of kryptonite.
While the constant photos of fika I share may suggest otherwise, I actually don’t have much of a sweet tooth…until I hit one of my favorite little spots in town – Cupcake STHLM.
Though it’s definitely much cheaper for me to bake my own darn cupcakes, I love indulging in their bite-sized red velvet and berry-loaded cupcakes once in awhile.

Today, October 4 is Kanelbullens dag (Cinnamon Bun Day) and yes! we take food celebrations seriously here in Sweden.
My friend Catrin makes the best fikabröd – hands down. Her butter cakes (shortbread) with pearl sugar pictured above were borderline sinful. You can find a similar recipe here (translated from Swedish with Google Translate).

While in Gammelstad, I couldn’t resist picking up a box of freshly baked American-style donuts (munkar) from this food truck. My box didn’t last past lunch.
