A little romantic gesture goes a long way. I’m constantly thinking of ways to express my love to my partner, rather than repeatedly saying those three little words.
Ahead of a trip back home to England, I went on a shopping expedition for some gifts to take back with me for friends and family. You know the kind of thing – cuddly Swedish elk, Viking helmet, Pippi Longstocking doll and the like.
I was blinded by the sight of Royal Wedding merchandise on sale everywhere. It’s quite an eclectic assortment of paraphernalia, from the sophisticated official collection of chocolates, napkins and tea service to the rather less refined display of wall-mountable plates, mugs and posters.
But what really caught my eye was a tacky t-shirt emblazoned with the faces of Victoria and Daniel – a printed pencil drawing that really doesn’t do either of them justice.
And I guess it’s fairly unlikely that the newlyweds will be caught sporting a matching pair of these tops while honeymooning on the beach in Bora Bora.
I did, however, see a similar item of clothing that I hope one day to wear with pride. Just the small detail of a proposal and wedding to wait for first. Am currently on the look out for a ‘boyfriend’ version in the meantime.
