For the third time the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta and the Swedish Institute together with the Alumni Swedia organization held a pre-departure event for Indonesian students admitted to Swedish universities. This year’s event took place on Saturday 14 May 2016 at Ciputra Artpreneur in Jakarta and was attended by more than 80 students and 20 alumni.
More than 200 Indonesian students were admitted to Swedish universities this year. Though we still have no information on the final number of students who are actually going until the departure time, we are happy to have 21 recipients of the Swedish Institute Scholarship and more than 30 LPDP scholarship awardees as well as many others in the confirmed list. This pre-departure event was aimed at equipping these students with everything they need to know about life in Sweden before their departure. It was also a great opportunity for the students to meet with other students and to connect with alumni. Read more » >>
It was a bright Saturday morning on the 21st of November, 2015, when we began arriving at the Swedish Residence in Jakarta. It was only 8.30 am, but the organizing committee was already there, as well as other participants who come from as far as Aceh and Makassar. Smiles were stretched, handshakes exchanged, name tags on – it’s time for the first Swedish Institute Alumni Forum 2015 in Indonesia!
The Swedish Institute Alumni Forum (SIAF) is a new initiative from SI to maintain and strengthen its alumni network. A pilot project for 2015, this forum is held in three selected countries: Indonesia, Belarus, and Uganda. The Swedish Institute fully sponsored this event, allowing alumni from other cities (and other islands!) to come and participate as well. It was such a privilege for us, Alumni Swedia, to be hosting this forum in collaboration with the Swedish Embassy in Jakarta.
Attended by about 60 alumni, the day’s schedule is packed with 3 different sessions, all of which aimed to provide alumni with aspiration and inspiration on how entrepreneurship – using our best skills, passion, and network – can create a better Indonesia. Moreover, we have chosen food entrepreneurship as our sub-theme because food unites people and it can open doors to countless opportunities, whether or not you are in the food industry.
On 30 July the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta invited alumni and students of Swedish universities to an evening of meeting old and new friends at Istituto Italiano di Cultura Jakarta.
With support from the Swedish Institute, this annual gathering of alumni, current and new students of Swedish universities provided an opportunity for learning about, exchanging, and reminiscing experiences studying (and living) in Sweden. 30 July happened to be the International Day of Friendship, too. What a perfect day to hold the gathering! Read more » >>
