Participants at GlashusEtt – the environmental information centre for Hammarby Sjöstad
Hammarby Sjöstad is a still developing residential area in Stockholm that implemented principles of ecological sustainability in its design, organization and functioning.
For the first time I (Aleh Kliatsko) visited GlashusEtt (the centre for environmental information and communication in Hammarby Sjöstad) as part of my Master’s Programme in Sustainable Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in 2007.
Last year I had an opportunity to visit Hammarby Sjöstad again, since I was coordinating an international project that is called “Tour into Swedish sustainable lifestyle” organized by NGO Global Playground Stockholm together with Belarusian NGO “Ecohome”.
While planning the SI Alumni event and considering previous successful experience, I and Andriy came up with an idea to make this event more practically oriented and organize study visit to Hammarby Sjöstad. Read more » >>

The Swedish Institute (SI) is pleased to announce the possibility for SI alumni (former scholarship and grant holders) as well as alumni associations supported by SI to apply for financial support to arrange local events, focusing on thematic areas of relevance for development. This call provides a start-up possibility for SI alumni who wish to stay active and continue building professional networks after their scholarships in Sweden.
