Alumni events were organised in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai in October by the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai and the Sweden Alumni Network in China with support from the Swedish Institute. Alumni events were held in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai last week as Swedish universities and Swedish Institute representatives were in China to attend the China Education Expo.
On 23 October more than 70 alumni from 18 Swedish universities attended a workshop on networking and career building at the Nordic Centre in Beijing. The event was organised by the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing with support from the Swedish Institute. Ms Emily Roblin, founder and Managing Partner of LEAP, engaged the alumni in a dynamic workshop that equipped the attendees with valuable networking skills and helped expand their social and professional networks. The alumni also got a little taste of Sweden as they were served Swedish-inspired sandwiches from Modo and delicious cinnamon buns baked by the Nordic Centre staff. Swedish Institute representatives and Swedish Universities will be travelling to China next week to attend the China Education Expo. In connection to this the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing and Consulate General of Sweden in Shanghai together with the Swedish Institute are organising alumni events in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai.

In Guangzhou a dinner will be arranged jointly with the Sweden Alumni Network in China (SANC). If you are an alumnus in Guangzhou and want to join the dinner, please contact Rachel Weiner to register.
Also, if you have any Chinese friends that are considering studying in Sweden, please tell them to come and meet the Study in Sweden team at the China Education Expo in Beijing, Guangzhou or Shanghai!
It is that time of year again, the Sweden Alumni Network in China (SANC) to invite you to the Annual Alumni Networking event in Beijing.
The Swedish Institute has supported the alumni network since it was launched in 2009/2010. Together with the Swedish Emabssy in China and the Sweden Alumni Network in China we would like invite former international students to Sweden who reside in Beijing to this years alumni event and reunion. The event will be held on the 5th of november, 2013 in Beijing in conjunction to “The China Education Expo in Beijing on Nov 2-3″.
SANC is happy to invite all members as well as other alumni from former Swedish Universities to join us and members will have opportunity to meet and recive to a presentation from a lecturer at the Nobel Museum.

Apply for a place online: There are a limited number of seats so please register as soon as possible. Places will be distributed evenly among the various Swedish universities. Apply online no later than October 15th at: j.mp/sanc2013 . You will receive a letter of confirmation shortly after October 15th informing you if you have receiveda place.
Attendants will include: Alumni from Swedish universities, a delegation of Swedish universities, the Swedish Institute, the Embassy of Sweden in Beijing, the Nobel Museum, the Swedish Chamber of Commerce in China and a delegation of Swedish Companies.
About Sweden Alumni Network in China (SANC) is a non-profit organization for and by all alumni of Chinese, Swedish and other nationalities who studied or engaged in Sweden and now live in China. The purpose of this network is to develop and maintain a platform which can sustainably provide opportunities to its members and partners to improve their communications and can foster positive and mutually beneficial relationships between them.
A big congratulations to the founder of SANC; Ling Zhang is also the Alumnus of the Year at Mälardalen University (MDH) 2013 which announced by Pro-Vice-Chancellor Paul Pettersson at a ceremony at MDH in Västerås.
The motivation for the award reads:
“Ling Zhang, founder of the Swedish Alumni Network in China, is a fantastic asset to Mälardalen University (MDH). He has already done an enormous amount for MDH by promoting it within the network, and hence laid the ground for MDH students and staff to benefit from its numerous members.”
