Please find below a report from Natallia Rameika who was granted economic support in 2014 to organise an event on social entrepreneurship.

No business can be successful without its positive effect on the society. To create a better tomorrow the first thing an entrepreneur should think about is not the money he/she can earn but the change he/she can make. Social entrepreneurship perfectly combines these two aspects: accomplishment of social tasks and entrepreneurial approach. To understand what is social entrepreneurship and how important its development in Belarus, Belarusian SI Alumni orginised the two days seminar-training “Make It Social!” Read more » >>

Job Shadow Days held in Belarus

Please find below a report from Katsiaryna Syrayezhkina on an SI Alumni job shadowing activity held in Minsk in November:

20 mentors and 20 students participated in the Job Shadow Days during the week of November 17th, 2014 in Minsk, Belarus. This CSR initiative was implemented in cooperation with the Association of European Business.

Job Shadowing is a way to get acquainted with professions and explore career options. Students had an opportunity to accompany working professionals (mentors) for one full work day in their everyday work environment. Job shadowing also gave students a chance to ask any questions they have about the job and how to prepare for it.

SI programmes alumni in their fourth or fifth year of study (Marketing, Law, Economics / Finance, Design and Architecture students) saw the current application of what they are learning, learned firsthand from adults who have careers in a variety of occupational fields and are now able to adjust their academic plans (optional subjects, graduate thesis topic, traineeship programmes).

Mentors provided students with information on their companies’ brand and philosophy, professional opportunities within given companies, and also had an opportunity to remember why they chose their career.

17 mentors and students participated in the summing-up meeting on November 26th to exchange their impressions and short-term experience gained within Job Shadow Days.
