Pre-departure gathering held in Indonesia with new students going to Sweden, Alumni Swedia and PPI Swedia


On 30 July the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta invited alumni and students of Swedish universities to an evening of meeting old and new friends at Istituto Italiano di Cultura Jakarta.

With support from the Swedish Institute, this annual gathering of alumni, current and new students of Swedish universities provided an opportunity for learning about, exchanging, and reminiscing experiences studying (and living) in Sweden. 30 July happened to be the International Day of Friendship, too. Launching of Alumni Swedia Chapter Yogyakarta

On 1 March a new chapter of the Indonesian alumni network “Alumni Swedia” was launched in Yogyakarta. Below is a report from Alumni Swedia chairman Erlangga Arfan on the launching event.

Sunday, March 1, 2015 was a special moment for the Alumni Swedia. On that day, the Alumni Swedia Chapter Yogyakarta was launched. Taking place at the InSIStS (Indonesian-Swedish Initiative for Smart Energy Solutions) office at the University of Gadjah Mada compound, the launching was attended by the second secretary of the Embassy of Sweden, Lina Eidmark, the chairman of Alumni Swedia, Erlangga Arfan and other participants such as the Embassy staff, the Board of Alumni Swedia, Indonesian Professors having experiences as visiting lecturers in Sweden as well as Indonesians graduated from Swedish universities living in Yogyakarta. Alumni Swedia Break Fast Gathering & Pre Departure Session

As the Ramadan month has commenced,  Muslims in Indonesia observe the Fast of Ramadan. During this month, one will usually get lots of invitations to break the fast together and attend a small gathering. It’s very common that these invitations are extended to the non-Muslims as well.

Alumni Swedia in Indonesia also organised a small break fast gathering combined with informal pre-departure sharing session for future students who will study in Swedish universities. The event took place on July 10, 2014 at Bumbu Desa Pasaraya Blok M, South of Jakarta with 22 attendees.

Not much of food, a lot of sharing :-)

Technopreneurship – Alumni Swedia Indonesia 2nd Gathering 2014

Have you heard about Technopreneurship before? If you are from the western part of the world, it is OK if you never heard about it. According to oxforddictionaries.com this term is popular especially in South and South East Asia. Merriam-webster.com recorded that the first known use of the word was in 1987. The word “technopreneur” itself can be simplified as a person who sets up a business that involves technology in the business process.

Technopreneurship was the main theme for the second Alumni Swedia (Swedish Alumni) gathering in 2014. The gathering took place at HaloNiko Warung Buncit on Saturday, 26 April 2014. Two of our Swedish alumni shared their experience as technopreneurs.
