On July 16, 2014 the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta organised a break fast gathering and Pre-Departure Briefing at Erasmus Huis, Jl. Rasuna Said S-3, Setiabudi, South of Jakarta. This event was opened for the Embassy of Sweden staff, Swedish universities alumni, current and future Swedish universities students, and invited guests. This event was hosted by Daniel Johansson, chargé d’affaires of the Embassy of Sweden in Jakarta and supported by the Swedish Institute.

As the Ramadan month has commenced, Muslims in Indonesia observe the Fast of Ramadan. During this month, one will usually get lots of invitations to break the fast together and attend a small gathering. It’s very common that these invitations are extended to the non-Muslims as well.
Alumni Swedia in Indonesia also organised a small break fast gathering combined with informal pre-departure sharing session for future students who will study in Swedish universities. The event took place on July 10, 2014 at Bumbu Desa Pasaraya Blok M, South of Jakarta with 22 attendees.
Today, May 6th 2014, is an innovation feast in Indonesia as the Innovative Sweden Exhibition and i3L (Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences) are officially launched. i3L is a pioneer in the Indonesia’s life science innovation and research efforts. It pursues boundary-spanning and applied research in medicine, biotechnology, and food science in close collaboration with Karolinska Institute and the Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences (SLU). Held at the newly built i3L campus at Pulomas Jakarta, the inauguration event was started in the morning with a press conference where many major media in Indonesia covered the conference.
Have you heard about Technopreneurship before? If you are from the western part of the world, it is OK if you never heard about it. According to oxforddictionaries.com this term is popular especially in South and South East Asia. Merriam-webster.com recorded that the first known use of the word was in 1987. The word “technopreneur” itself can be simplified as a person who sets up a business that involves technology in the business process.
Technopreneurship was the main theme for the second Alumni Swedia (Swedish Alumni) gathering in 2014. The gathering took place at HaloNiko Warung Buncit on Saturday, 26 April 2014. Two of our Swedish alumni shared their experience as technopreneurs.
