Please find below a report and pictures from “Passive house – Active consumer. Energy efficiency in residential sector” – an alumni event organised by Georgii Valdenmaiier and Julia Shevchenko in the Ukraine:
The event was held in Kyiv on 5 September and organized by SI alumni Georgii Valdenmaiier and Julia Shevchenko.
The seminar included 7 short lectures on different topics regarding energy efficiency – from energy efficient architecture to energy cooperatives.
The very first lectures was provided by young successful Belarusian architect Aleksandr Kucharavy. Aleksandr presented the concepts of passive, active and multifunctional houses. In the second part speaker shared with audience personal experience of building multifunctional houses in Belarus and Ukraine.
Energy engineer and climate analyst Oleksii Khabatiuk talked about modern renewable energy technologies in residential sector and opportunities of personal sustainability.
In the next lecture young energy enthusiast and co-founder of energy start-up Ivan Pasichnyi presented the idea of smart metering devices used for intelligent control of house appliances as well as shared experience of developing energy start-up and crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo.com.
Later Georgii Valdenmaiier briefly presented idea of Smart Grids and shared personal experience of participation in European Smart Grid project.
In the fifth lecture young energy activist and co-founder of NGO of energy initiatives Andrii Zinchenko described the idea of energy cooperatives and successful examples of such cooperatives in the world. He discussed with audience perspective implementation of social initiatives and cooperatives in residential sector to optimize energy consumption.
Grzerosz Gajda, financial project manager from World Bank, informed about existing financial opportunities for energy management and optimization of energy consumption in residential buildings in Ukraine.
The event finished with interesting presentation about personal opportunities for sustainable consumption of energy resources in residential dwellings given by young ecological enthusiast and energy specialist Anna Shumeiko.
