Inauguration of Innovative Sweden Exhibition and i3L Indonesia

Today, May 6th 2014, is an innovation feast in Indonesia as the Innovative Sweden Exhibition and i3L (Indonesia International Institute for Life Sciences) are officially launched. i3L is a pioneer in the Indonesia’s life science innovation and research efforts. It pursues boundary-spanning and applied research in medicine, biotechnology, and food science in close collaboration with Karolinska Institute and the Swedish University of Agriculture Sciences (SLU). Held at the newly built i3L campus at Pulomas Jakarta, the inauguration event was started in the morning with a press conference where many major media in Indonesia covered the conference.

During the press conference, Ambassador of Sweden for Indonesia, HE Ewa Polano, highlighted the astonishing increase in bilateral relations between Sweden and Indonesia. Besides the Innovative Sweden and i3L, on the 7th of May the Indonesia – Sweden Infrastructure Partnership (ISIP) will also be launched. One of ISIP partners, Scania, will present a demo bus to Jakarta city at National Monument (Monas) on the 9th of May. Another partner ISIP partner, which is Kapsch AB Sweden will set up a trial system for electronic road pricing for Jakarta city. The ambassador also mentioned the exciting collaboration with Indonesian universities one of them is University of Indonesia (UI). UI has set out to establish a Swedish House, a centre for innovative science sustainable future with a dedicated Swedish sustainable city academy.

The Innovative Sweden Exhibition will be open from June 6 – September 30, 2014. This exhibition was assembled by the Swedish Institute (SI). The exhibition was made possible to be exhibited in Indonesia with the support of the Embassy of Sweden in Indonesia, Business Sweden (the Swedish Trade & Invest Council) and the i3L. The exhibition in Indonesia showcases 20 selected Swedish companies that have the latest technologies in ICT, Life-Sciences, Gaming and Clean Technology. Representatives of seven out of the 20 companies attended the inauguration. They are representing Peepoople (www.peepoople.com/‎), OrganoClick (http://www.organoclick.com/), jDome Bike Around (http://jdome.com/) , Narrative (getnarrative.com), Neonode (http://www.neonode.com/), Brighter Company (http://www.brightercompany.com/), Immune Therapy Holdings (ithgroup.eu).

 

Besides the exhibition that will last until September, there will be a series of event such as seminars, workshops, competitions, and various presentations about Sweden, study in Sweden, and also scholarship . These series of even starts from May 6 and will be ended with a Swedish National day celebration on June 5.
