“Journalism conference in Umeå in March” – Invitation for SI alumni in Sweden!

Dear Swedish Institute’s alumni currently living or visiting Sweden!

We are very pleased to let you know that we will be able to offer you a seat  at the conference on Investigative journalism in Umeå in March, Gräv 2014.  This conference will be a unique opportunity to learn from international experts and to interact with fellow journalists and scholars.  To see the full conference programme please visit their web site   http://www.grav2014.se/program/  (and click on ‘seminars in English’).

The conference dates are 21 to 22 March.

As a former SI scholarship or grant holder you will also be participating in a one-day expert workshop 20 March. This is a workshop for  current SI scholars, SI alumni and invited SI experts. The workshop begins at 09:00 (sharp!) Thursday 20 March. A detailed workshop programme in English will follow.

As Umeå is European capital of culture during 2014 we will also offer you a chance to explore Sami culture. In the afternoon of Friday 21 March we will go on an excursion where we will taste Sami food and go dog-sledding.

Please note that no travel or accommodation grants will be provided in conjunction with this event. To help you find affordable accommodation in Umeå we have asked the YMCA (KFUM) Youth Hostel to hold beds for twenty SI participants. Booking your accommodation at the YMCA is entirely optional. If you would like to make a reservation at the YMCA we advise you to make your reservation as soon as possible as they will only be able to hold the beds for a limited time.

Please  write “Journalism Conference in Umeå” in the email subject line and remember to state your full name, scholarship period and the university name in Sweden so that we can identify you as a SI alumna/us.
