Visit to the Olof Palme International Center in Stockholm!

On 29th January, this wintry day in Stockholm, this year’s first alumni event was arranged for SI alumni in Sweden. 24 alumni gathered for a lunch and mingle before heading off to The Olof Palme International Centre for talks and discussions with its Secretary General Jens Orback.

We were introduced to the Palme Center, one of Sweden’s expert organisation in  international development cooperation, democracy and peace promotion. The Centre has its main office in Stockholm but has branches in South Africa, Palestine, Turkey and in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The Olof Palme International Center is the umbrella organization for the Swedish labour movement and works in the spirit of Olof Palme for democracy and human rights. The Center has more than 280 active projects one of them e.g.  “From bullets to ballots” emphasizes democracy through voting and referendums and the Center’s three target groups: women, young people and grassroots activists.

The gathered Alumni, coming from 13 different countries, wear engaged in discussions with Jens and many of the topics were of the most recent events in the world. It was an inspiring afternoon and of course it was very nice to meet all Alumni that could join us!
